It is a great honor for me to serve as the Governor of the Central bank of Somalia (CBS). I take this responsibility with utmost seriousness and zeal in fulfilling my duties.
CBS is currently in the midst of undertaking critical reforms, guided by our Strategic Plan (2020 – 2024). We have adopted a new organizational structure and initiated the process of transforming CBS from being primarily a fiscal agent for the government into a modern, effective, and policy-oriented Central Bank. This, in turn, will enable us to achieve our strategic goals and execute our mandates more efficiently.
Our ongoing reform and restructuring processes require an immeasurable amount of work and dedication. This is why we have recruited three highly experienced executives with significant and diverse expertise in management, finance, banking, and economics. We have initiated a process of reviewing our policies and procedures. Our Board of Governors has approved a new and robust HR policy, a new foreign exchange reserve policy, a new financial management policy, and a new procurement policy while other policies are in the pipeline. My team and I undoubtedly face some challenges, but we look forward to conquering these challenges.
I am excited to lead CBS towards achieving its strategic goals and I look forward to transforming this key institution. With the help of my team, our Board of Directors, the Government, our stakeholders within the Somali financial sector, and our international partners, I am sure that CBS will become a credible and highly productive organization.
