The Central Bank of Somalia is led by Governor Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, who’s also the chairman of the bank’s board of directors. The governor’s office is comprised of the following sections:

  • Planning and Management
  • Legal Unit
  • Risk and Compliance
  • Communication Unit
  • Internal Audit (IA reports to the Governor administratively and functionally to the Audit Commitee of the Board)

The Office of the Governor’s primary function is to support the governor to execute on his mandate to lead CBS in fostering price stability and building a robust, stable and up-to-date  financial sector. The office conducts the day-to-day operations to assist the governor in leading CBS to carry out the reforms that focus on financial sector stability and integrity and improving corporate governance and risk management. The governor’s long-term goal for the bank is to formalise financial institutions, establish effective monetary policy, build a strong foundation for banking operations and increase organisational effectiveness that can lead to inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction for Somalia.
