The Central Bank of Somalia is Delighted to Win Central Banking’s 10th Annual Award on Payments and Market Infrastructure Development 2013.
The Central Bank of Somalia (CBS) receives with honour Central Banking’s Payments and Market Infrastructure Development Award 2023. It is a huge recognition of the hard work that CBS staff and management have put in to restructure the institution and spearhead the reform of Somalia’s finance sector.
Somtel Licensing Ceremony
CBS awarded on the 12th of July 2021 its second license to Somtel Ltd, the second largest mobile money operator in Somalia. The well-attended ceremony hosted a number of keynote speakers including the governor of CBS, Abdirahman M. Abdullahi and the Managing Director of Dahabshiil Group for South and Central Somalia Hassan Awad.
Second Seminar Series
CBS Communication Unit held its second seminar series on 27th of November 2021 to continue the facilitation of strengthened internal communication within CBS and closer dialogue between CBS senior management and the staff at large.

The Central Bank of Somalia has established a transformative national payment system for the first time in Somalia’s history. The system connects all of the banks in the country and enables them to transact with each other.
