On 31 July 2025, the Central Bank of Somalia (CBS) successfully hosted the Third Annual Economic Policy Conference at the Jazeera Palace Hotel in Mogadishu. The high-level conference brought together more than 30 institutions, including ministries, international partners, research centers, and private-sector representatives, for robust discussions on Somalia’s transition to the post-HIPC era, fiscal sustainability, revenue mobilization, and long-term economic growth.
This year’s theme, “Somalia’s Transition to Post-HIPC Era: Debt Sustainability, Fiscal Resilience, and Economic Growth”, highlighted the country’s historic debt relief achievement, its admission into the East African Community (EAC), and the ongoing reforms to strengthen fiscal stability and financial inclusion.
The conference featured keynote addresses, expert presentations, and policy panel discussions that examined:
Post-HIPC fiscal policy and debt management – balancing reforms, growth, and sustainability.
The role of non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) in advancing financial inclusion, supporting SMEs, and expanding access to affordable credit.
The conference reaffirmed CBS’s role as a trusted platform for evidence-based dialogue and policy leadership, shaping strategies that will guide Somalia’s economic future.
