The Central Bank of Somalia (CBS) is pleased to announce that it has achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS), marking an important step in strengthening information security, operational resilience, and institutional governance in line with international best practice.
The certification covers the ICT infrastructure, applications, and information assets that support the Bank’s operations and services, in accordance with the approved Statement of Applicability (SoA). Issued by the Management Systems Certification Body (MSECB), it confirms that CBS’s information security management framework meets the requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 international standard.
This achievement reflects CBS’s continued commitment to safeguarding critical information assets, strengthening internal systems and controls, improving risk management, and embedding internationally recognised standards across its operations. It also reinforces the Bank’s focus on accountability, reliability, and continuous institutional improvement.
The certification process involved a rigorous and independent assessment of the Bank’s information security policies, procedures, governance arrangements, operational processes, and internal controls. Achieving this standard confirms that CBS has established a structured and audited framework for managing information security risks in line with globally recognised benchmarks.
CBS extends its appreciation to all staff and partners who contributed to this achievement and remains committed to continuous improvement, institutional excellence, and the advancement of Somalia’s financial system.
